Invitation to the Inaugural Workshop & Field Day of the African Cereal and Legume Breeding Consortium (ACLBC) | August 19-20, 2025 – Kenya

The African Seed Trade Association (AFSTA) and the Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT), in collaboration with the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO), are delighted to invite you to the Maiden Annual Workshop of the African Cereal and Legume Breeding Consortium (ACLBC).

This inaugural event, centered on the theme, “Catalyzing Seed Technology Adoption through Partnership, Performance & Field Experience,” will be held from 19th to 20th August 2025, in Kenya.

This workshop presents a unique opportunity for seed companies, breeders, and key industry players to accelerate the adoption and commercialization of improved seed technologies across Africa. The event will feature:

  • A Field Day in Njoro (August 19th): An exclusive tour of demonstration plots at the KALRO Research Centre, showcasing newly released, high-potential varieties of maize, soybean, rice, wheat, high-iron beans, sorghum, and millet.
  • An Interactive Workshop in Nairobi (August 20th): Technical sessions, panel discussions, and networking opportunities at the Hotel Park Inn By Radisson Nairobi Westlands, focusing on showcasing the performances of new varieties on the portfolio of ALCBC, variety licensing, and commercialization pathways.

The primary goal is to facilitate direct engagement between technology owners and seed companies, discuss participatory variety selections, and develop a roadmap for scaling up these elite varieties.
